Thanks so much for stopping by. My hope is that you will be encouraged and comforted by traveling with us on this adventure as you see how God can take the challenges of life to assure us of the living hope that is available by faith to us all through Jesus Christ.

Thanks, also, to each of you who have personally ministered to me and my family through your thoughts, prayers of faith, visits, messages, many acts of kindness and words of encouragement, especially during those dark days, and then for the long haul during my extended recovery season.

His hands

Praise the Lord, O my soul and forget not all his benefits--who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.  Psalm 103:13

"God does the healing, I am His hands" is what one of our nurses told us.  How true that is!  We are grateful for all the medical help that Hu has received but in the end it would have been to no avail without God's intervention.

Our family has been blessed with good health so Hu's hospitalization has been quite an experience for us.  I thought that when he became a patient the total focus of the medical people attending would be on him and rightly so.  However, I was really surprised to see how interested they have been in my well being by answering my unending questions, insuring my comfort and checking to see that I got sufficient rest.  Pleasant and encouraging medical staff have made a difficult situation bearable for us.  The personal touches like a recliner with a warm blanket for me, the nurse that called me in the waiting room to "come right away--he opened his eyes and is following commands" (when he had been sedated) and the night nurse who told me you can call anytime during the night.

Today Hu reached another milestone when the trach was removed.  That seemed like his reward for all the effort he put into the day's tedious therapy sessions.  In spite of his weak body he continues to work hard toward regaining his strength.

We prayed for the medical staff before we arrived at the hospital and the Lord has answered our prayers abundantly as we have benefited from their care as an extension of His hands.

  2. Sherril and Hu,

We are so delighted that Hu is free of the trach and to hear of your progress! We thank the Healer for his continuous touch on your life. I am so glad to hear, Sherril, that the medical staff has been helpful and kind. I will be praying for the complete recovery of your lungs, Hu, as they continue to push you to do more. We do take things for granted! Barb Haron

  3. So wonderful to hear all the good news! Tthis blog has been such a blessing to me too! What a great witness your family has been - bearing up under trials! So easy to praise God when things are going just as you would have them, but what a great example you've shown of accepting whatever He has handed you - the easy and the difficult!
