Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
"What can I do for them?" That thought has often gone through my mind when I have thought of people in need. Sometimes it is like trying to find something to wear on a special occasion -- nothing seems to suit. One thing that has been impressed on me during Hu's illness is the number of people who have helped us by doing what they do best -- using their gift.
When it comes to opening the mail in our family I have always done that and put it in Hu's "in box". Somehow it magically decreased in size until the next load of mail. I never had further responsibility for it after that. When Hu was in the hospital, the medical bills and other bills were creating quite a mountain. A dear friend offered what she does best and has helped me sort out the medical bills in a "dot-to-dot" fashion so I know just how to process them. Our son, David has been assisting me with the other financial affairs that need to be handled. I am so thankful for these, like others, who are using their God-given gifts to take the stress out of my life during Hu's recovery.
You'll remember we have asked for prayer for the ability to swallow for Hu and Garren (our 14 year old great nephew). This week Garren begins a three week, 5-day-a-week intensive swallow therapy. Please pray for him that this will be an effective treatment for him. When asked today what our life group could pray for Hu tonight he said, "Endurance -- it is a slow process."
