Thanks so much for stopping by. My hope is that you will be encouraged and comforted by traveling with us on this adventure as you see how God can take the challenges of life to assure us of the living hope that is available by faith to us all through Jesus Christ.

Thanks, also, to each of you who have personally ministered to me and my family through your thoughts, prayers of faith, visits, messages, many acts of kindness and words of encouragement, especially during those dark days, and then for the long haul during my extended recovery season.

I Need a Thankful Heart

An article on thankfulness in the Reader's Digest caught my eye.  I was struck by the author's comment which was:  "Until you learn to be grateful for the things you have you will not receive the things you want."

Later in the day I received an email from a dear friend about a message she had heard by a TV evangelist and in her notes from the message quoted a statement he had made  "Until you can be thankful for something that is not enough, then what you have cannot be multiplied into what is more than enough."  I realized it was the lesson that the Lord had for me for the day.  It is always amazing the way the Lord can speak to me in the most unique circumstances.

Hu and I had been discussing his progress with his therapist yesterday.  It never seems like enough as long as he isn't back where he originally was, but these thoughts have put it in a new perspective and while I am thankful for his progress often I wish it could be more--or faster.

Today, I was reading in 1 Kings about the widow at Zarephath who didn't have any bread and just a little flour and oil.  The prophet Elijah told her to go home and make a small cake of bread for him and then make something for herself and her son.  He assured her that her supplies would not be used up -- and they weren't.  For the third time in two days the Lord reminded me that He can make Hu healthy again if that is His choosing, but I need to be thankful for his health as it is now.

After a couple of down days, Hu hit a new milestone of walking the rest of the block to the corner and home with the therapist yesterday which made it nine houses away for a total of 18 minutes.  That is a reason to be thankful!

Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.  1 Chron. 16:8
