Thanks so much for stopping by. My hope is that you will be encouraged and comforted by traveling with us on this adventure as you see how God can take the challenges of life to assure us of the living hope that is available by faith to us all through Jesus Christ.

Thanks, also, to each of you who have personally ministered to me and my family through your thoughts, prayers of faith, visits, messages, many acts of kindness and words of encouragement, especially during those dark days, and then for the long haul during my extended recovery season.

Are we there yet?

Our family was no different than others.  When we would take a trip, someone would usually ask, "Are we there yet?"  Often that is the way I feel with Hu's journey.  I couldn't imagine that the healing and recovery process would take nearly as long as some have indicated to us.  In the back of my mind I thought, "Well, this will be different."  This week as we were listening to Randy Alcorn's devotional, 90 days of God's Goodness, he made the point not to dwell on the cause of suffering but how God will use it.  That helps us to look at this journey from a different perspective.

Hu is pain free, which is a blessing in itself.  Our weather has been nice for taking short walks outside, which he does often to exercise as well as to increase his stamina.  We have decided that since the progress is no longer measured in days that I would only write a weekly update on Wednesday in addition to his Sunday edition of "The Parallel Journey."

Today, being Good Friday, I think of how Jesus suffered on the cross for the sin of the world.  As a result of my faith in Him I now have eternal life.  Sunday, we will celebrate his rising from the dead and rejoice that He is in heaven at the right hand of God.  As was explained by our pastor, Jonathan Scott, Jesus' death for me not only determines how I will live in eternity but who will be with me for forever in eternity.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  Gal. 2:20
