I remember seeing a book entitled, Bloom Where You are Planted. I've been thinking about that thought lately. Often we find ourselves doing things quite different than we had envisioned for our lives. Obviously, with such a supportive husband as Hu, it didn't occur to me that I might be his caregiver. However, I am confident that the Lord has a special plan for each of us, and we should "bloom where we are planted" and do that task well.
Our creative physical therapist asked Hu to pick several goals of things he would like to be able to do and then work on one each week. Two of those were to work out at the gym and go out to eat. Maybe he is tired of my cooking:) In his therapist's words, "Being the over achiever that he is, he is doing two this week." Monday, he went to the gym for a short round on a few of the machines. That went better than he expected -- until Tuesday when his body reminded him that he had gone to the gym for the first time in six months! He has recovered enough that tomorrow we are going out to lunch to celebrate his birthday.
As the caregiver I can vouch that Hu has tried to be the best patient he can be until he is able to get back to a more normal life. I'm so thankful that the Lord has allowed him to see another birthday.
As long as I continue to be his caregiver I want to honor Hu and the Lord in that role. During recent months we have heard from some of our friends about how they are serving the Lord in their present circumstances. If we haven't had an update from you recently we'd love to hear about the role in which the Lord has called you to bloom.
I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Phil 4:13
