In my daily Bible reading this morning I was in the book of Ezra. The chapter began with a list of names of the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken captive. As I was going through the list, I thought, "What value does this have for me?"
Then, as I kept reading I noticed that certain names had particular responsibilities. I began to think about that and was thankful that I am living in a time when I just follow the Lord's leading for my responsibilities and that all the Harrill descendents aren't singers or priests or gatekeepers of the temple. Although some families have a vocation which is handed down to succeeding generations, I'm thankful for the variety that we can experience today.
Then, I thought more about the various responsibilities the Lord has given me in recent months. With variety often come challenges. Some have stretched me beyond my comfort zone. However, I have also found that the Lord knew my need and brought people into my path that could either help me or advise me with the tasks.
Today, I was dealing with a large medical bill for an extended family member. I felt totally out of my league, but as I made phone calls to offices involved I found people that were kind and helpful. That was a blessing! I didn't get the problem resolved yet, but I have the confidence that there is hope to do so.
The lesson I learned from those people is that no matter what my name or job is, the Lord has called me to do what I am doing, which often impacts other people. I want to do it to the best of my ability because my willingness to be helpful in my role will have an impact on another person's day.
Hu's remaining wound is almost healed. He has done well at the gym with getting back into exercising muscles that haven't been used for a long time. His physical therapist signed off on him so he is on his own. She gave him some great goals to work on at the gym and as he walks in the neighborhood as well. Please continue to pray for his endurance and breathing issues to improve.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. Col. 3:23-24

Thanks so much for stopping by. My hope is that you will be encouraged and comforted by traveling with us on this adventure as you see how God can take the challenges of life to assure us of the living hope that is available by faith to us all through Jesus Christ.
Thanks, also, to each of you who have personally ministered to me and my family through your thoughts, prayers of faith, visits, messages, many acts of kindness and words of encouragement, especially during those dark days, and then for the long haul during my extended recovery season.
