Hours of labor did not result in the birth of our first son David, and the doctors said that they were going to perform a Caesarean section. That was never a remote possibility during my pregnancy, nor did I know anyone (at the time) that had experienced the surgery since it wasn't very common in the early 70's.
Contrary to that experience, prior to Hu's hospitalization two of our neighbors and our own great nephew Garren all had undergone serious major surgeries. Often I was encouraged by these folks as they told me a few things at a time of what to expect (so as not to overwhelm me), and it was comforting to know that Hu's suffering was something that would end and he could recover. I might add, though, that we continue to pray for Garren (age 15) who after seventeen months still is not able to swallow. Will you join us in praying for him, too? (Please see the sidebar on the right to link to his story and updates on his progress.)
We thank you for your prayers for Hu. Simple tasks are exhausting for
him but we are able to see progress since he has been in the pulmonary
rehab program.
The Lord has impressed on me that Hu's experience of pain and suffering was not in vain and that, no doubt, the Lord has someone that we can encourage in days to come just like we have been encouraged along our journey by many dear friends.
O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago. -- Isa. 25:1
(ad-ven-ture: the encountering of danger; an unusual, stirring experience)
Thanks so much for stopping by. My hope is that you will be encouraged and comforted by traveling with us on this adventure as you see how God can take the challenges of life to assure us of the living hope that is available by faith to us all through Jesus Christ.
Thanks, also, to each of you who have personally ministered to me and my family through your thoughts, prayers of faith, visits, messages, many acts of kindness and words of encouragement, especially during those dark days, and then for the long haul during my extended recovery season.
