Thanks so much for stopping by. My hope is that you will be encouraged and comforted by traveling with us on this adventure as you see how God can take the challenges of life to assure us of the living hope that is available by faith to us all through Jesus Christ.

Thanks, also, to each of you who have personally ministered to me and my family through your thoughts, prayers of faith, visits, messages, many acts of kindness and words of encouragement, especially during those dark days, and then for the long haul during my extended recovery season.

Season of Life

Change has been an unexpected major part of our life for the last five months.  The first big event was to cancel our trip to Panama because of Hu's surgery.  We had planned on helping care for our grandchildren while our daughter-in-law Lisa made a ministry trip to the U. S. for a week and a half.

The next change came when my mother went to live with my sister Judy and brother-in-law Gary during Hu's hospitalization.  Never did we dream that four months later she would still be with them.
The most recent change has been stepping down from the leadership of our small group (called life groups at our church) because of Hu's extended recovery time, which resulted in the group disbanding.  Of course, there have been many small changes, too, but these have been some of the major ones in our lives.
Today, Judy and I were discussing my mother and her time with them and she said, "This is the season of life that we are in now."  How true that is.  I've been thinking more about that this afternoon, and in each of those major changes I now realize how God has provided much better than we could have done.  When our Panama plans abruptly got cancelled, Lisa made changes to her schedule on short notice, as well, which included her mother making a special trip to help with the children.

Hu and I have been so grateful that Mother is with Judy and Gary.  What a blessing to have family nearby and know she has such a great quality of life with them.

In the process of disbanding our life group we realized that one of the couples had a desire to start a young couples group and that is now in progress.  Another couple who had been with us since the beginning of our group five years ago is open to joining men's and women's life groups individually.

How we thank the Lord for His provision each step of the way.  Please pray with us as we live for Christ in this season of life and for those that are embarking on new territory with new life groups.

If you have recently entered or may be about to enter a new season of life, we know that the same God who has provided for us, provides for all His children -- not always as we would expect, but always in the best way.  May this verse encourage your heart as you trust in Him:

And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.  Isaiah 58:11
