Thanks so much for stopping by. My hope is that you will be encouraged and comforted by traveling with us on this adventure as you see how God can take the challenges of life to assure us of the living hope that is available by faith to us all through Jesus Christ.

Thanks, also, to each of you who have personally ministered to me and my family through your thoughts, prayers of faith, visits, messages, many acts of kindness and words of encouragement, especially during those dark days, and then for the long haul during my extended recovery season.

Prayer time tonight 6:30-7:30

Proverbs 18:10: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe."

I can't help but think that Dad knew. It seems that he knew something bigger than a routine surgery was about to transpire. We were pretty sure that the tumor was malignant even before the surgery. Dad had such peace and courage about him.  As I look back at the days and hours leading up to his first surgery last Wednesday, I can't help but think that God was preparing Dad for something bigger. For example, the verses that I am sharing with you each day are verses that Dad felt God was using in his life in a special way.

Dad had a good night and continues to improve. He continues to be sedated and on the ventilator; however, they continue to lower the medications that he is on and he is responding well.  His vital signs are good.  He is a bit squirrely, since they took him off of the paralytic medication. It's good to see him moving around a bit.  We're also keeping a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't yank out his ventilator tube!

We'd like to welcome you to join us in prayer this evening from 6:30-7:30pm at the Carolinas Medical Center, Sanger Heart & Vascular waiting room, on the third floor. Their phone number is 704-355-4700 just in case you need further directions.  If you are unable to join us in person, we would love it if you could join us in prayer at that time, wherever you are.  According to the blog, there are folks in at least 10 countries who are checking on Dad's progress.  Thank you for your concern!

Thanks again for stopping by the blog today as we journey with Dad and wait to see what God has in store.  We hope you are blessed today as we have been remembering that God is our strong tower in the midst of life's storms.

Blessings,
David

  1. I sent Hu's blog to our senior pastor, David Chadwick because I know Hu would be thrilled to have him read it and I wanted David to know how much Hu and Sherril mean to my family. I wanted to share with you his response:

Amanda, thank you. I will treasure reading it. I'm so grateful he has touched you. I don't know Hu well, only having had the privilege of meeting with him once. But I will join you in prayers for his healing and health.

I'm out of town right now for the next two weeks. Please keep me updated and I will pray. Join me:

"Father, I ask now that you invade Hu's ICU room and touch his body. Give him healing and more years here to touch more seekers for you. Be with his wife and family in every possible way. I pray the prayers of your saints will now be answered and Hu will be given many more years on this side of your eternity. You are our great, awesome and mighty God! Please hear our prayers today and answer immediately, for Your glory, dear God! In Jesus' name I pray this. Amen."

Thank you for entering into this prayer of agreement. I know Hu is in God's hands.

  2. Hu and Sherrill,
You may not remember us from the Ft. Clayton Chapel but we want to let you know that you are both in our thoughts and prayers in this journey. Cheryl has been in a fight against Stage 4 ovarian cancer since June 2010 and praise God, she is still hanging in there by the grace of God. She can so identify with the sense of peace that Hu felt going into surgery. We will continue to monitor the blog for updates and pray for Hu's recovery.

  3. Hello dear friends! I just wanted to let you know that we prayed for you today. Sharon had been keeping a close eye on the situation, and she had me read the blog this morning all the way to the latest post. I was in tears the whole time. Monday mornings we have a prayer time at New Tribes Aviation. I shared about how we met you folks back in Panama in '86. How you were just there for us in so many ways. Such an encouragement you have always been and continue to be. I then shared what all was going on with Hu. About how the boys had come home from all the places they are ministering. How you all are demonstrating your confidence in our Lord in this difficult time. Then we prayed for all the requests that had been shared and Paul Dye prayed for you guys. Just wanted you to know that we love you all and are praying for continued recovery for Hu. Obviously God has much more to accomplish through Hu and his wonderful, Godly family.

    With Great Love,

    Doug and Sharon Hefft
